Description
The Blechbläser Zinzinnati collection is comprised of material taken entirely from original hand copied part books brought to Cincinnati from Germany in the early 1900’s and held in the collection of Henry Wohlgemuth, former Principal Trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Made public now for the first time, the series includes marches, waltzes, folk songs and hymn tunes as well as late 19th century salon music. Originally arranged for quartets consisting of trumpets and bass trumpets as well as cornets, Eb tenor horn and euphonium, they are published now for quartets of 2 trumpets (cornets), horn in F (and Eb), and Trombone (Euphonium). These publications also contain tuba parts that simply double the Trombone (euphonium) parts down the octave. Whatever instruments these are played on, know that it will be some of the most fun you have ever had playing in a quartet! This is the music that would have been heard in the beer gardens of the many German immigrant neighborhoods similar to Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, Ohio. Enjoy!
