Kieran McNamara is a founding member of the Beneficence Brass Quintet and an active freelance musician who has performed throughout the United States and Europe. While touring in Germany with Beneficence Brass, Kieran had the pleasure of working with youth groups eager to learn about and perform in their own chamber ensembles. His group also performed a concert series alongside the German quintet, Rekkenze Brass. McNamara has frequently competed in the trumpet ensemble division of the National Trumpet Competition and has appeared as a soloist in competitions such as the National Trumpet Competition, International Trumpet Guild, and North American Brass Band Association. Kieran earned trumpet performance and audio engineering degrees in his undergraduate studies at Ball State University. McNamara utilizes his proficiency in both areas to develop new pedagogical methods and tools to aid musicians in and out of the practice room. In addition to developing teaching tools, he is actively involved in researching the trumpet works of Hans Erich Apostel, Alec Wilder, and Corridor Saglietti. McNamara is a graduate of Miami University’s Masters of Music Performance program where he studied under Douglas Lindsay.
